A WRITER’S SOUL: My Weekly Goals & Such

Eyes of the Universe, abstract environmental backgrounds

It’s time to take a look at last week’s goals…

First, how was your weekend? Storms threatened Atlanta each day. It was muggy and down right uncomfortable.

My daughter is all settled for the summer. We took a day and put all her things into our storage closet. It’s good having her home. The simple act of watching a TV comedy or a movie takes on a whole new feel with her around. Her laughter has us laughing much longer than usual.

1) LAST WEEK’S GOALS:

*Continue revisions of Blessed Hearts. The goal is to complete by the 21st working on a minimum of two chapters daily. This may be finished by the 23rd.

*Continue draft on Delivering Sin. The original deadline for the draft was June 9th. I may need to extend this. I’ve drafted the first three chapters. I’m still shooting for the 9th.

2) THIS WEEK’S GOALS:

*Continue revisions of Blessed Hearts.

*Continue draft on Delivering Sin.

3) A FAVORITE LINE OR PASSAGE FROM MY STORY THAT SUMS UP WHAT I WROTE/REVISED:

My muscles tighten, and I’m ready to explode. Colt’s statement unravels something deep inside of me. I’m clenching my jaw so hard pain shoots through my jaw. Whatever this is pushing to the surface, I’m incapable of stopping. All I know is a line is drawn and my friend had better not cross it. [Cash, Blessed Hearts]

Cash’s jealousy is becoming evident. He’s unsure why he feels so strongly about Qadira so, he hides his emotions behind ‘doing what is right’.

4) THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE I FACED LAST WEEK:

Not feeling overwhelmed. For some reason, I didn’t use my daily planner last week. I knew what I had to do and I sat down to do it. I don’t believe, however, that I was as productive as I could have been. I had two days of being too tired to really write so, I skipped one day and slogged through another. Not the best use of my time.

5) SOMETHING I LOVE ABOUT MY WIP:

I love uncovering Cash’s and Qadira’s (Blessed Hearts) emotions and motivations. It’s interesting to include the supernatural twists and turns, but I’m also trying to keep it ‘real’. There are layers of human traits and ideas and when it comes to love.

How I’m feeding my soul this week…

I’m still reading Sarah J. Maas’s The Court of Wings And Ruin.

That’s it for now.
