It’s time to take a look at last week’s goals…
First, how was your weekend? We had one gorgeous day and the next it rained all day! I’m glad I got a chance to go out and experience the sun, but man it was hot on Saturday. Went shopping and purchased new shoes and books. I also found out there’s a possibility I can get my books into an indie bookstore in my neighborhood. I’ll keep you posted on that!
1) LAST WEEK’S GOALS:
*Word count for All Things Dark & Magickal for this week is 9,396. My goal is to complete Act Two this week. That’s roughly six chapters (about 1 1/2 per day). I made it midway through Act Two. I had a day long takeover for Read Self Published Month, and it didn’t get any writing done on Thursday. Then I spent Friday working on Rebel.
*Start writing out the story premise for Delivering Sin by Nadirah Foxx. Didn’t touch. I did, however, read some great Egyptian mythology as research!
*Finish with Rebel. It’s done! Now to find a beta reader or two to read it before it goes to the editor on May 15th. Worse case scenario? I pay my editor a little more for her to read it through for flow as well.
2) THIS WEEK’S GOALS:
*For All Things Dark & Magickal, finish Act Two.
*For Delivering Sin, finish research and write out premise of story.
3) A FAVORITE LINE OR PASSAGE FROM MY STORY THAT SUMS UP WHAT I WROTE/REVISED:
If my father’s smart, he won’t ask what I’m thinking. The appearance of the pompous prick screams patriotic. I’m sure someone selected the right clothes—navy blue pinstriped suit with crisp white shirt and bold red tie—to perfect the image. Even his graying hair is flawless. Deep down, however, lies the truth. His patriotism is garbage. Its pungent with the stench of a cruel government. Hell, it’s deeper than that. He’s deeper than that.
[Zared, Rebel: the Alliance Chronicles, Book 3]
I love this passage. It sums up Leader Venter perfectly.
4) THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE I FACED LAST WEEK:
Staying focused reared its ugly head again. I really wanted to spend the week simply working on the gender flip story, but I had other responsibilities. I also struggled with boredom on a different level. My husband was out of town which left me at home completely alone. Suddenly, I had the need to talk to people when I’m usually cowering in my room wanting people to go away. Strange.
5) SOMETHING I LOVE ABOUT MY WIP:
Let’s talk about Rebel for a minute. I love this book out of all the ones in the series, so far. I cemented the relationship between Tru and Zared. I planted a few breadcrumbs letting you know about Asher and Zared and what’s down the line. The best part is I did everything with more action and not adding a bunch of side plots that would only lose readers.
How I’m feeding my soul this week…
I’m reading an ARC of a story set in King Henry VIII’s time period, and I’m starting another book by Nikki Belaire.
Just a reminder–
I post my video reads of the chapters each day. In the evening, I touch base with the readers via live Facebook video. We go over questions and comments. At the end of each week, I do a giveaway. We’re coming down to the last chapters of the book!
That’s it for now.
