Skeleton Key Book Series
One Skeleton Key. Endless Adventures.
Tessa James has never been able to figure out the puzzle that is her life, until a mysterious key and a hidden closet lead the way to a realm beyond her imagination. The Fae are real. Magic exists. And Tess’s world has just drastically changed.
Nyx Steele, the leader of the Fae, is ruthless as he is beautiful, especially when it comes to keeping the humans out of his realm. Their role in slaying his people will never be forgotten, even if they stumble on him in the form of an alluring being like Tessa. No matter how strongly he’s drawn to her, Nyx must never forget what Tessa’s ancestors did to his.
Lost in a land filled with wonder and dangers, Tessa cannot resist her attraction to the enigmatic Nyx. The most breathtaking love she’s ever found may also bring her ultimate ruin and death.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Appropriate for readers 18+ due to sexual scenes.
Dark Fae by Lillian Cartier was a first read for me. The prospect of reading about Fae and the Otherworld intrigued me.
The character of Tessa had spent her life alone. She had no friends and a job that kept her anonymous to others. Learning that she had family was compelling to her. I believe that it was this need to belong that attracted her to Nyx. It was an insta-love moment for the both of them. Nyx, a royal Fae, was also destined to spend his life alone. His designation as a member of the dark fae insured that he would never have a companion. Fortunate for him to find Tessa.
Cartier wrote a story about love at first sight and the importance of family. Great story premise. I especially appreciated how one of their own, a Fae, displayed jealousy and needed to be punished for her crime. I would have loved to seen this part of the story teased out more.
If you don’t mind reading about love at first sight and you enjoy some well-crafted graphic scenes, this is a book you should read.
Rating= (5 Hands=Excellent, 4 Hands=Pretty Good, 3 Hands=Good)
