Reunited Hearts: A Review of Claire Contreras’ “Kaleidoscope Hearts” Description: “He was my older brother’s best friend.
He was never supposed to be mine.
I thought we would get it out of our system and move on.

One of us did.
One of us left.

Now he’s back, looking at me like he wants to devour me. And all those feelings I’d turned into anger are brewing into something else, something that terrifies me.
He broke my heart last time.
This time he’ll obliterate it.”

My Review

This was an unplanned read for me. I needed a break from post-apocalyptic despair and supernatural threats. I’m so glad that I hit the one-click button on this book! I am now a big fan of Claire Contreras.

I found a new book boyfriend and a new fave couple in Kaleidoscope Hearts. I’d actually purchased Paper Hearts last year, but never read it. I like getting a complete series so, I couldn’t pass up the limited sale.

I love Contreras’ style. Her story was well-written, intriguing, and included characters so real I felt their anguish and joy. Kaleidoscope Hearts is all about second chances and how, if we’re not careful, sometimes those we truly love might slip away.

I loved Oliver and Estelle. I could imagine how their story could unravel in real life. For some reason, guys have this rule that their friends can’t date their sisters. Why? You would think a guy would just stick with a rule that says if you hurt her, I hurt you. Pure and simple. If the guy wants to chance a few broken limbs, so be it.

I read this book in one day. I couldn’t put it down. There was so much emotion in it. My heart ached right along with Estelle’s. I even felt Oliver’s pain. Just a phenomenal book, which I recommend to anyone wanting a good, honest love story.

In between Kaleidoscope Hearts and Paper Hearts there’s a novella entitled Torn Hearts. This short novel is the first book I read by Claire Contreras. It was actually read by accident. I picked up Paper Hearts and discovered the novella. I couldn’t put it down. I loved the well-developed characters and the engaging story. I can’t wait to finish Paper Hearts.
