Back to Home

How was your weekend? Mine went too fast. We took a road trip, and whenever that happens the weekend is shot. It was a good trip. The ride sucked, but we got to check out our daughter’s future college home. We saw a good basketball game and had good food, for a change, from a concession stand.

I did get some work done, too. Let’s see how I did…

1) LAST WEEK’S PROJECTIONS:

*Finish work on Rescue revisions. It’s happy dance time… I finished all of it! I just have two critique sessions and then it’s beta reads!

*Start work on planning chapters for RestoreI planned scenes, seventeen to be exact. More to come.

2) THIS WEEK’S PROJECTIONS:

*Critique chat with partner to go over Chapters 45 – 49 of Rescue.

*Continue planning scenes for Restore.

*START revisions on Demon’s Birthright!

3) A FAVORITE LINE OR PASSAGE FROM MY STORY THAT SUMS UP WHAT I WROTE/REVISED: [from Tru in Rescue]

My act was like the push on a stack of dominoes.

That pretty much sums up the whole journey from rough draft to publish. I knocked over the dominoes on November 2014 and it was a pretty long train to watch fall into place. It required me to reset them a couple of times (revisions/rewrites) and even trade them out for a new set. Once I found a set I liked to play with and I tripped the first one, everything went tumbling forward (choosing an editor, revising, choosing a cover artist, betas, revising, proofing, choosing a formatter). The game is almost over for this round. I’ve already selected another set of dominoes and have put them into play.

4) THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE I FACED LAST WEEK: Keeping my mouth shut! I’ve been wanting to share my cover with EVERYBODY! My husband, daughter, and parents have seen it. Of course, the person doing my cover reveal and my critique partner have seen it. If you subscribe to my newsletter, you’re seeing it before everyone else (check your email).

5) SOMETHING I LOVE ABOUT MY WIP: [Rescue] I love how the characters have developed their own little identities. I did another “Fireside Chat” today. I had no idea what to do for this character (Eden). But she spoke up as soon as I asked the right question.

That’s it for this week!
