1980: You Shook Me All Night Long Release Day

Title: 1980: You Shook Me All Night Long
Author: Casey L. Bond
Genre: 80’s New Adult
My name is Tina. I’m a freshman at USC, a good student and friend…
And I’m a victim.
Hot guys make my brain turn to mush. So, the fact that I was arrested then survived a massive earthquake only to be shackled to the fox next to me can all be overlooked, right?
Okay, so I was arrested before I met Luke. A tremor that caused a blackout at the LAPD precinct where we were being held. Although technically, I wasn’t shackled to him, I was handcuffed, but still. Any and all lapses in my usual—totally sane, I might add—judgments, are his fault. Totally.
I wouldn’t typically do the things I did. I’m no outlaw. I’m a college student.
My Review:
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed 1980: You Shook Me All Night Long.
Bond’s novella was a trip down memory lane. I was in college during the early eighties. The clothing, the music, and especially the black Trans-am with the black and gold Fire-bird logo brought back some of my own experiences.
This book hooked me from page one and had me smiling throughout. It was like reading an episode of “Miami Vice”. Tubbs and Crockett were vacationing in sunny California and somehow were asked to help with a major bust.
The mix tape created in the end was perfect. I don’t know how college-age students do it nowadays, but making a tape to express yourself was something we did. The choice of songs was spot on for the situation.
I liked both of the main characters in You Shook Me All Night Long. Tina was strong, independent, and had a good head on her shoulders. She knew when she made a mistake and fought to rectify it. Her motto could have easily been ‘to thine own self be true’. Luke was a young man trying to do the right thing. He wasn’t a bad guy. Trouble simply followed him.
Overall, Casey L. Bond’s latest work is a must read for anyone who likes a good love story.
