Arrrrggghhhh….that’s the sound every joint and muscle in my body made this morning. Did a one-day road trip to Tallahassee and back….exhausted! But, enough with the whining. Let’s see how I did last week with my goals.
1. So, how did I do last week? My posted goals:
*Continue work on rough draft for second WIP. Still working. I’ve upped my previous word count by 1,000 words! If I were a strict plotter, I’m sure I wouldn’t be having this discussion. But, since I’m not, I’m plugging up holes. They’re not big ones. There are a few things I didn’t address and I’m taking care of that.
*Continue working on short story. I’m already past the half way point (total word count max =10K) I’ve got less than 4K to go. I didn’t get a lot done since I was caught up on line editing my manuscript (critique partner was unavailable due to personal emergency). I’m happy with the progress I’ve made so far on the short story.
*Continue planning out Urban Fantasy. Utter fail! Blame it on the line editing! I’m still not finished with the editing. I ran my manuscript through a piece of software to find how often I used certain words. Well, let’s just say I spent a few hours each day replacing words and rewriting sentences. So, Dean stop giving me that face. I worked!
2. THIS WEEK’S GOALS:
It’s going to be a wild week! I’m headed to the Great Lakes Book Bash at the end of the week. Looking forward to seeing all my writing buddies and meeting new ones. I already know concentration will be shaky!
*Continue work on rough draft for second WIP.
*Continue working on short story.
*Continue line edits.
3. A FAVORITE LINE FROM MY STORY OR ONE WORD/PHRASE THAT SUMS UP WHAT I WROTE/REVISED: This comes from my rough draft of Rescue: The Alliance Chronicles Book Two
(Holden Pratt, a bad guy introduced in book one, is having a conversation with Tru, the main character. She’s upset with him. NOTE: The AR refers to the American Republic.) He laughed. “I never claimed to be an admirable man. Remember, I’m an employee of the AR.”
4. THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE I FACED LAST WEEK: Stamina. October started out being a mild month of book review requests. After September, I needed that. The month has taken off with lots of lovely books I want to read and review and others making requests. I’ve already decided November will have to be catch up month. I’ll be working hard to finish another rough draft during that month so, I’ll have to cut back on review requests.
5. SOMETHING I LOVE ABOUT MY WIP: I didn’t expect this outcome….My husband told my daughter I’m a brilliant writer! I know it’s not directly about my WIP, but it influenced his comment. The best way to end a week! Wouldn’t you agree?
Well, that’s this week’s update. Have a great week!
