RSW – Update 1

RSW11

Ready. Set. WRITE! is a summer writing intensive that encourages goal-setting and accountability, and provides an opportunity for us to cheer each other on wherever we’re at with our writing projects—planning, drafting, revising, or polishing.

And now… My first update for RSW 2015!

How I Did On Last Week’s Goals

1. Revise 4 chapters of WIP. –> I revised eight!

2. Finish prepping for UtopYA Con. –> Completed all blog posts up to the event. Looked up details of authors in attendance. Completed Pre-Order requests.

3. Attend Publish 2015. –> Had a good time. Lots of networking. Learned important information about indie publishing.

4. Research for second WIP. –> Didn’t do as much as I needed to since I worked so hard on my revisions.

My Goals For This Week

Attend UtopYA Con and NETWORK! Make valuable contacts. Post to blog from convention provided internet is accessible. Finish revising WIP. Would like to have it finished in time for convention.

A favorite line from my story OR one word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised.

Pain shot through me like a shaft of cold and bitter steel.

The biggest challenge I faced this week (ex. finding time to write).

Prioritizing was an issue for me. I wanted to spend more time with my second WIP. Every time I tried to focus on it, the characters from my first WIP kept interfering. Plus, I was trying to post each day for the blog. And, I’m reading more than one book. Scheduling is now a big priority!

Something I love about my WiP.

I’m on my fourth revision and the characters keep making suggestions. They don’t like their previous conversations. They don’t like their actions. I like how the creative process doesn’t just stop and settle for what you’ve already done. It keeps evolving and making the story stronger and the characters better.

So far so good! Stay focused.
